About Mint Eco and Our Environmental Audit
Mint Eco Car Wash was founded in 2019 with the mission of re-inventing the car wash from top to bottom. Or, as we like to say, we are bringing: A Fresh Approach to Washing Cars®. This fresh approach includes Mint Eco’s approach to the Environment. It starts with a firm disbelief in the notion that ‘what is good for business is bad for the environment…and what is good for the environment is bad for business.’ At Mint Eco Car Wash, we believe that business and the environment can thrive together in a mutually beneficial relationship. The foundation of this relationship is best articulated by Mint Eco’s Environmental Promise:
Mint Eco will treat the environment as a critical constituent of our business. We will take a long-term approach to our relationship with the environment. We will minimize our impact on the environment. We will support organizations that share our vision.
Given our commitment to the environment and the importance of the relationship, we put the environmental posture of the company ‘front and center’ with our customers, our employees and the community. The result of this thought process is our name: Mint Eco Car Wash. With the word “Eco” on the door, we realized that it was important to not only behave in a manner consistent with our Environmental Promise but also go the extra step and actively communicate what we do to deserve the word “Eco” in our name.
It is also our goal that we encourage other car washes to set a higher standard of care for the environment. To that end, we publish this Audit annually for all to see.
Executive Summary
In an unregulated industry, we are unable to rely on any regulatory body to police and validate our environmental position. Therefore, we have to do it ourselves. To that end, we are providing this Annual Voluntary Environmental Audit. We will perform this Audit annually and use it as a guide for operations at all of our sites. With this clarity, and our commitment to consistently bring a critical eye to our operations and our standards, we hope to demonstrate that a car wash can be both successful and environmentally friendly. The detailed findings of our self-audit process are outlined in the following pages. Much of the process this first year was setting our criteria in place and defining if the area's sustainability is impacted by our business.
The above chart is a summary of our findings from our 2022-2023 Annual Voluntary Environmental Self Audit.
Overall, we found many positive ways that we have successfully kept our promise to the environment. Most notably, we confirmed that all our tunnel chemistry is biodegradable and non-toxic, a difficult (and costly) but important standard.
We also have taken care to outline further areas of study and research we will be focusing on over the next year, most notably our interior services and detailing chemistry and methods.
While we cannot force other Car Washes to adopt our environmental posture, we can demonstrate that an eco-friendly car wash can have great success. To that end, our aspiration is that this Audit serves as a roadmap for our entire Industry. We share it freely and hope that it is used to make our Industry better stewards of the environment.
